Delta Airlines

more days until we leave

more days until we meet Judah

I was just checking Delta Airlines policies for baggage. Here's what I found out:
  • Normal 50 lb limit
  • Bag #1 free
  • Bag #2 free to Africa
  • Bag #3 costs $200
  • Overweight bags (51-70 lbs) cost $150
What I still don't know:
  • Is our 2nd bag really free? Bag #2 is free going to Africa but not free going to Europe. Since we're staying two nights in Europe, do we go by Europe rules or Africa rules?
  • Since we have 3 tickets coming home, is there any way to come up with another piece of "luggage" so we can bring stuff home from Ethiopia?

  1. We flew Delta and each took two bags free. We packed a lightweight duffel to fly home on our third ticket incase we needed the extra space for souveniers. However, after getting rid of all the donations we had plenty of room without it.
    Happy packing!

  2. We flew same as Leah Ann and you have 2 free bags per person plus carry on. We brought two less suitcases home (put them inside others) because we had donations we left.

  3. I would pack a collapsible duffel bag in one of your suitcases to bring home with you. Also, you'll probably have two bags per person plus carry-ons, even though you stop in Europe - if all your tickets are on the same itinerary. We stopped in Miami overnight, and that's how it was. Knew a family lwho booked their MIA to PAP and their trip to MIA on another itinerary and they had to pay. I'd call the airline just to make sure though.
